Australian Institute of Family Studies

I am a Research Officer with the Child and Family Evidence team at the Australian Institute of Family Studies. I have experience in mixed-methods, quantitative and qualitative research. In my current role, I use my knowledge translation and evidence skills to contribute to the production of resources on a variety of topics about issues affecting Australian families. Examples include nature play, mental health and wellbeing, child safety, and intimate partner violence.

In previous years, I worked on research projects with rural communities in Kenya and Sri Lanka, focusing on the human-wildlife interface of conservation. This included leading a research project in Sri Lanka investigating community experiences of living in proximity to wild elephants and increasing family safety in this environment.

I have completed 3 Masters degrees, most recently a Master of Social Policy with Melbourne University, which afforded the opportunity to explore social issues in Australia, and develop policy writing and critical analysis skills. My first-class thesis explored colonialist ideology in volunteering using critical discourse analysis.
